The No1 Reason Your Foundation Doesn't Last

A lot of you wonder why your foundation doesn't stay on all day or looks like its dripping off your face after a few hours even when you are wearing the right shade.
You sometimes wonder if its the foundation that is bad or if you have actually gone darker, making it difficult for the foundation to blend. Well, a lot of things can cause this to happen but one major problem I identified is
''Compatibility between your facial products and your foundation''.

Water and oil don't mix well, the same goes with silicon and oil/water. So, if you're using a water based foundation, use a water based moisturizer. If you're using an oil based foundation, use an oil based moisturizer or primer. In this aspect, 'like' attracts 'like'. You can't use an oil based moisturizer with a water based foundation and expect your foundation to stay put all day.

Also, most primers are silicon based so they're best paired with silicon based foundations which are found in most cosmetic stores. This will give you a smooth finish, that's why most people will advice you use primers, foundations & powders of the same brand just because they think it'll blend better, whereas the major reason for this perfect blend is actually because these products contain the same agents (oil, silicon or water).

Lots of people have oily skin so I'll advice you stick to water based foundations which are found mostly in tubes & bottles. You should also pair this with water based moisturizers and primers also, so I've listed a few bellow;

Water Based Foundations
* Mac face and body
* Estee Lauder's Invisible Fluid Foundation
* Givenchy's Photo'perfection Foundation
* Mary Kay Timewise foundation

Some Water Based Moisturizers
* Neutrogena Oil-free Moisturizer
* Fresh Umbrian Clay Lotion
* H2O plus Oasis Hydration Treatment

    1. Amen & you're welcome.

      No you're not asking too much. Powders too have a role to play which is to set your foundation & help it stay on all day. So, they don't particularly have to come up in this post since we are talking about one of the things that cause your foundations not to stay on all day.

    1. Black Opal is a good product especially for dark skin. As long as you've been using it and its not causing any negative reactions on your face then you're fine. though you can skip the moisturizer before applying foundation if you have an oily skin.

    1. Thanks.

      Like I said in the post, its better to use products with the same kind of base. So if your primer is silicon based, stick to silicon based foundations.

    1. Hi, if you think 708 is too dark for you, then I think you should try using 700 which is a shade lighter.
